Training in Problem Solving Therapy (PST) is being offered as part of the Structured Therapy and Research Centre run through the Department of Psychiatry at The University of Ottawa. The training programme consists of a one day workshop followed by up to three months of supervision.
In the one day workshops we will train attendees in the use of PST. We will explain the seven steps of PST in detail, using role play, video and exercises and we will provide attendees with manuals and other written materials. By the end of the workshop attendees should have a clear understanding of what PST is and how to use it. In addition we will cover topics such as risk assessment, issues with engagement and relapse prevention.
After the workshop we will provide up to three months of supervision where participants can talk to trainers about issues or questions that arise when using PST with clients.
